Multiculturalism
Number of Words: 394 / Number of Pages: 2
... fear it will happen. Language is a part of
multiculturalism. Evidence of this can be found in some many cities and towns.
You will see signs in English or French and under them, you will see German ,
Japanese ,Arabic etc..Other examples of this are newspapers and media
productions in varying languages. People that have a choice as to where they
want to immigrate to , usually choose Canada because Canada is a great place to

Time For Americans To Be A Family
Number of Words: 694 / Number of Pages: 3
... next to
African-Americans, when they are referring to the same group of people.
I'm not knocking what people want to call themselves, it's the mixed messages
I'm getting and the inaccuracy of the terminology that frustrates me.
Look around and you will see there is the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, the Black Muslims, and African-Americans.
All of these terms are used to refer to members of one group of people. Is it
any wonder I'm confused?
I have particular problems with the term African-American, a misnomer which
would lead me to believe these people somehow hold ...

Optimism Verses Pessimism
Number of Words: 428 / Number of Pages: 2
... outlook is most successful and radiant. Although everything has both pleasant and unpleasant attributes, a pessimist overlooks the positive and dwells on the negative. For example, if someone was to make an A on a test, a optimist would say “ good job,” when a pessimist would say “it was a very easy test anyway, and anyone could have passed it.”
If a person gets diverged in pessimism he will become depressed and discouraged. A pessimist strives on negativity and sorrow. A pessimistic person scrutinizes himself for even the smallest mistakes or failure. Even when a pessimist does his best, he be ...

... meet all safety
regulations, while being a pleasant place to learn. Light, ventilation,

... 95). The US Surgeon General reports that, “domestic violence is the
leading cause of injury to American women between the ages of fifteen and forty-
four” (Briggs and Davis 94) . Abusers need to be stopped before its too late
for their victims.
Women are not the only victims of abuse. Children who live in a
situation where domestic violence is prevalent suffer in many ways. The
psychological impact of witnessing violence among many children is just as
severe as if they had been the victims of physical or sexual abuse themselves
(Krueger 94). These children who witness abuse at home suffe ...

Immigration: Pro
Number of Words: 1097 / Number of Pages: 4
... current history but that is an oversight. Even in the
"politically correct" society we live in today allows for these discrepancies,
for in the Immigration Act of 1990 which brought up controls for immigration.
Behind all these legal documents there are reasons that spurred these
causes. Certain prejudices against certain races or religion. The prejudices
were not always a color issue as the current immigration problems are. In the
beginning it was primarily Europeans. In particular the Irish and German were
thought of negatively. The percentage of the Irish in the Mid-Atlantic went from

... 47). Is it possible that pornography is
acting as the key to unlocking the evil in more unstable minds?
According to Edward Donnerstein, a leading researcher in the pornography
field, ˙the relationship between sexually violent images in the media and
subsequent aggression and . . . callous attitudes towards women is much stonger
statistically than the relationship between smoking and cancer˙ (Itzin 22).
After considering the increase in rape and molestation, sexual harassment, and
other sex crimes over the last few decades, and also the corresponding increase

Violence In The Media
Number of Words: 440 / Number of Pages: 2
... but hell, it is. I freaking
love to see movies where there are more scenes of mindless violence than there
are actual scenes of acting. These movies are aimed at the lowest common
denominator because intelligent movie goers are as extinct as the Dodo bird.
Movies like Showgirls make more money than Panther because they are more fun,
not because they are better. It will always be this way. The government should
not, and can not, keep us from seeing what we want to see.
Just for a moment, let's pretend we live in a future where TV containing
sex or violence is illegal, and so are video games and any o ...
